The recent caste related remarks by former UP CM  Mayavati on conferring Bharat Ratna to Madan Mohan Malayaviya and Vajpayee because they belong to upper caste and not having considered Kashi Ram as he belonged to lower caste displays politically motivated caste based division in society.  The caste system called varna in Sanskrit took to existence on the basis of karma and nature of every individual irrespective of the caste in which the person was born. Bhagawad Geeta Chapter 4, verse 13 defines the origin of caste within the society- चातुर्वर्ण्यं मया सृष्टं गुणकर्मविभागशः. Accordingly, a child capable of achieving brahma gyaan born to a Shudra (lower caste) was considered to be a Brahman. Satyakama, son of Jabala, a maid servant was allowed to study vedic literature by Gautam Rishi after he saw those brahman qualities in the boy. Likewise, all celebrated people who have had dedicated their lives for higher good fall under one genus by the virtue of their action. It should be considered offense to identify accused, victim, and achievers on the basis of their caste, religion or region. Crime has no religion just like benevolence and success.

Caste based division of India is a political ritual which is best manifested through caste based reservations. Under the pretext of inclusive growth, these reservations have only accentuated the division between us. If an underprivileged man becomes a doctor due to caste based reservation, he has come on par with the rest of the society. He as well as his family can no longer be called deprived. They no longer require any reservations for their future generations. Then why generations after generations feed parasitically on these caste based reservations. If inclusive growth was the goal,then after more than 60 years of its existence, caste based reservations should have brought all the sections of society on one platform where the need for such reservations gets eventually abolished. But the possibility of the latter is far from reality. On the contrary, political class is generating more castes and more issues to keep casteism and disparity relevant for their existence.
