As humans, we have been
blessed with an indigenous energy called ‘Chetna’
or the ‘inner light’ which manifests through the state of consciousness. It is
this ‘Chetna’ that separates the inanimate
from the animate forms of life. As human is a part of the whole, we inherit all the
attributes of the whole, ‘Chetna’
being one of them. The moment this ‘Chetna’
leaves our body, it turns into an inanimate object, ‘Shav‘ (the dead body). Obliviousness of this inner light within us
renders us to a virtual vegetative state. We become incapacitated by fear, anxieties and complexes and loose the sight of the truth.
Diwali provides the
perfect time to realize this ‘Chetna’
within us. Once this ‘Chetna’ is
ignited, light spreads everywhere. Asatoma
Sat Gamaya, Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya. This is the true celebration of the
festival of lights.

How to ignite this ‘Chetna’ within us?
SURRENDER YOURSELF (to the
commands of the higher force): The first step towards realizing this light is
through karyaparayanta (dedicating
your actions to God). Whatever action you perform or are about to perform, simply
dedicate the same to the supreme. Be ready to Surrender yourself to his
command. Soon, you will start establishing a Connection between you & him (between
aatma & parmatma) which will start igniting the ‘Chetna’ within you.
TRUST
HIM: During the times when adversities strike you, it is important to keep your TRUST within him and strongly maintain the belief that whatever happens,
happens for the good. This will ensure that the ‘Chetna’ never extinguishes in any advert situations.
BASK
IN HIS LOVE: Gradually you will start feeling the immense love that he
has for you which was so oblivious to you. This love is present all around you.
You have to realize and succumb to it. Just like the oil in the lamp
replenishes the flame continuously, this experience of immense love nourishes
the ‘Chetna’ continuously within us.
This ‘Chetna’
demands regular maintenance and healing. More often this ‘Chetna’ gets injured due to innumerable factors like loss,
desires, fear, humiliation, quarrels, jealously, difficulties, failures.
Diwali symbolizes lightening of this ‘Chetna’
within all of us. Once this ‘Chetna’ gets
awakened, a new dawn begins which is celebrated as New Year.
